You might have had this notion that you have greatly messed up, " I don't think God can use someone like me?' May be your inability stairs at you daily and make you feel inferior or unqualified, I have good-news for you, God loves you and can still use you despite your weaknesses. 1 Corinthian 1:26-27NLT Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that few of you were wise in the world's eyes, or powerful, or wealthy when God called you. Instead, God deliberately chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. and he chose those who are powerless to shame those who are powerful.
If you look at the history of God dealings with man, you will discover that, great men and women whom God used to accomplish his purpose on earth had the same weaknesses like us.
For example, Abraham lied about his wife several times, that did not affect God's relationship with him. Jacob cheated his brother, married two sisters, slept with their servants and outsmarted his father-in-law, God still said this concerning him " But now thus says the LORD who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: 'Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name, You are mine. Isaiah 43:1NKJV. In Malachi 1:2 God said also, "I have loved you" says the LORD. Yet you says, "In what way have You loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? Says the LORD. " Yet Jacob I have loved.
So, you can see, God's love for you does not depend on how well you performed before God, but depend upon his choice of loving you.
Look at these people as well: Judah slept with his daughter-in-law. Do you know that Jesus came from that lineage? Matthew1:3NKJV Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar, Perez begot Hezron, and Hezron begot Ram. May be you have had a child out of wedlock, and you are wondering whether God can still use you. Look at David, he killed Uriah and took his wife, God's love for him never dissipated and Jesus even came through the child from that union. May you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love really is. Ephesians 3:18NLT.
May be you are already above forties (40s) and and you think, you have wasted your life, Moses wasn't called until he was in his eighties (80s). He had already murdered an Egyptians, he stuttered and was still living in his father-in-law's house when God called him.
Or are you like Peter, he was fearful, he even denied Jesus three (3) times, yet Jesus' love for him remained the same. Perhaps, you are doubtful of Jesus' saving power or God's existence, Thomas doubted Jesus' resurrection as well, he was till used to bring gospel to the end of the earth.
Are you like Paul who had said and done terrible things to Christianity or you have physical weakness like him, that did not stop God from using him.
One thing that is common about all these men mentioned above, is that, they did not give up, they embraced God's love for them and allow him to do the work of transformation in them. God did not come into their lives and left them weak, He turned their weakness into strength.
God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8NKJV.
